Make an impact this February: Join GCCF for 228 Day and celebrate giving back

Gulfport, MS (January 28, 2025) – Throughout February, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation (GCCF) will hold its inaugural 228 Day campaign, highlighting the Foundation’s impact on the region since 1989.

The month-long celebration will culminate in the 228 Day Open House and Ribbon Cutting on February 28 at 9 a.m. in the Knight Nonprofit Center’s Regions Room in Gulfport. Hosted in partnership with the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, the event will spotlight GCCF’s role in strengthening communities across the region.

The Open House will be the grand finale in a series of February events celebrating philanthropy and volunteerism. All events are complimentary.

“Our mission is centered on helping people leave meaningful legacies that benefit causes they are passionate about. The 228 Day campaign reflects this commitment and offers businesses and community leaders a unique opportunity to support GCCF,” said Dr. Christen H. Duhé, president and executive director of GCCF. “We’re dedicated to connecting people, ideas and resources to drive meaningful, long-term change, and contributions to 228 Day will help us continue that mission.”

Over the last 35 years, GCCF has invested more than $110 million into South Mississippi, supporting a wide range of initiatives in education, arts and culture, community development, disaster recovery, health care, and children’s and animal welfare.

“With more than 120 funds, GCCF helps our region be an even better place to live and work,” Duhé said.
